Here are some examples: if you’re remodeling a kitchen and certain appliances are a must-have, consider buying them early on so they don’t go out of stock and so your contractor can plan the cabinetry, plumbing, and electricity appropriately. What if you work from home or have a baby? Some of the most common solutions are staying in a different area of the house, finding a café or office to work from, or working with your contractor to find a schedule that works for everyone.
2. 𝐒𝐄𝐓 𝐀 𝐁𝐔𝐃𝐆𝐄𝐓. Your renovation budget should include the costs for materials, labor, decorative finishes, and building permits. Reserve a portion for unexpected costs (at least 10% as a rule of thumb). Now it’s time to request estimates from contractors! If the proposals you receive are higher than your budget, consider eliminating project elements that are a lower priority, or find a contractor that offers financing.
